Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   As we head out from Watkins Glen the morning after our Wine Festival visit, we notice a few hotels along the west shore of Seneca Lake. Unfortunately, none of them provide docking facilities.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Soon we approach Coal Point and Salt Point, where a salt mining operation resides.  Although we have yet to tour the mines, we are told it is quite interesting - the salt veins run miles and miles under the region.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Here is a closer shot of the salt plant and the stack that is shown on the Cruising Guide.
Cruising Guide Map: CS- 3A   Inwood Point
Cruising Guide Map: CS-3A   Several small points are marked on the Cruising Guide that are not recorded in this tour - none have public docking (Buttonwood, Fir Tree, Rock Stream).  These are two shots of a beautiful home we spotted lakeside.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-3A   The next large landmark we reach cruising up the west shore of Seneca Lake is Glenora Point, just east of the Glenora Wine Cellars, a popular vineyard, hotel and restaurant (Veraisons). Unfortunately there is no boat access to their establishment. We have enjoyed two great concerts there by car, and have been to their restaurant on several occasions. Sadly, most of the wineries on Cayuga and Seneca Lake either do not have lake access or do not provide shuttle access for boaters.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A   The next landmark is Brewer Point as we head north, and we decided to move in toward shore to get a better look at some of the homes.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A   Since we live on lakefront on Cayuga Lake, it's always interesting to us to see what other people have done to access the lake.  People use lifts, ramps, docks, inlets, and a host of methods for getting their craft on the lake.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A   Here is a long shot of Baskin Point, the next piece of land that juts into Seneca Lake as we cruise north along the west shore.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A We move a bit closer to Baskin Point as we move up the lake.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A   Keady Point is the next landmark noted in the Cruising Guide.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A A short distance from Keady is Squaw Point, the next landmark noted in the Cruising Guide.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A Seneca Lake is littered with little shore peninsulas like the next one coming up the west shore - Miller Point looms into view in the distance.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A And here is a closer view of Miller Point as we head north.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A    Severne Point is next on the point parade and this shot shows it coming up ahead off the port bow.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4A Severne Point has a boat launch for access to the west shore.  Mostly used by fisherman and smaller craft, but it is conveniently located off Route 14 on Severne Road on the west side of Seneca Lake.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-5A Rainbow Cove Motel is a great little motel on the west shore of Seneca Lake with 200 foot parallel dock.  We stayed there on our first visit to Seneca Lake in 2001 and had a wonderful time.  They have a restaurant and pleasant rooms with all the standard amenities. Note that in the 2003 NYS Canal Cruising Guide, the location is not marked.
