Cruising Guide Map: CS-5B   The next real landmark on the east side of Seneca Lake is Lodi Point State Marine Park.  This is a picturesque smaller park on a jut of land that "is a boat launch and picnic site. The park has modest accommodations for boaters, picnickers and anglers (from the NY web site)."
Cruising Guide Map: CS-5B   Lodi Point has some small boat docking and the aforementioned launch, but the depth was too shallow for the Kopasetic so we could not take advantage of it.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-4B  As you travel south along the east shore, you can see many of the vineyards used by the local wineries. Unfortunately most of the winemakers on Seneca Lake have no docking facilities.  I sent most of the wineries this email to research the feasibility of a "shared dock" located on the east shore.  While some were very interested, others see it as cost ineffective given the few number of sales from boaters - I see it as "build it and they will come!"
Cruising Guide Map: CS-3B  The next landmark is Peach Orchard Point, another nice place on the lake just to float and chill.  The view down the lake is great just off the point.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Glen Eldridge Point is next down the east side of Seneca, just before you reach the beautiful sight of Hector Falls.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2 Hector Falls Point provides a spectacular view of Hector Falls, one of the nicest spots to lounge around enjoy the view.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2  Here is another closer shot of Hector Falls and its point of land.  The road in front of the falls is Route 414 heading south to Watkins Glen.  This road is well traveled by wine tourists.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Past Hector Falls you can start to see Watkins Glen in distance.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Watkins Glen looms into view as we approach Warren W. Clute Memorial Park. It is an RV park that has some popular festivals over the summer.  Many people RV here and go to the Watkins Glen International Raceway.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Here is a broader shot of most of Watkins Glen. Our slip this trip is at the Village Marina dead ahead.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   As you approach the Village Marina you can spot .
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Here are shots of our approach to the Village Marina.  We stayed here for easy access to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   The Village Marina has gas at a nicely accessible dock and we were helped by an attendant on our visit.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Our slip was about halfway up the large center dock with beautiful views up the lake and a short walk to the Village Marina office. The restrooms were clean and the showers were welcome after a long day walking around the town.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Here are a couple shots of Watkins Glen Harbor where there are ample transient boat slips (call ahead) and all variety of boats.  This is also the home of Captain Bill's Cruises, where you can have an enjoyable dinner cruise up Seneca Lake.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   The Seneca Harbor Station Restaurant and Bar anchors the long town pier which is wonderful to walk out on. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices, and you can't beat the outside seating and views.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2    Good friends drove over from Ithaca, NY and visited us for dinner at the restaurant and a pleasant evening lake cruise. We settled in off of Hector Falls and snapped some sunset shots before turning in for the evening.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   The 2003 Finger Lakes Wine Festival greeted us the next day as we walked to a nearby restaurant for breakfast and easily found one of the many shuttles that takes you to Watkins Glen International Speedway for the event.  The Glen hosts many different festivals other than its famed racing venue.  The shot on the left is of one of the bands that plays during the festival - the shot on the right is the entrance to the main Wine Festival grounds where over 70 vendors let you sample their regional wines, foods, and condiments.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-2   Here are some shots from inside one of the several tent pavilions where the vendors sell their wares.  They have a convenient method for you to buy your wines and pick them up on exit.  Overall we were delighted with the event, the food, the wine, and the assorted crafts!
