Seneca Lake Visual Tour

This visual tour starts at the northeast corner of Seneca Lake just at the entrance to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. We start at Stiver's Inn in Waterloo, NY and head south along the east coast to Watkins Glen, and return north along the west coast to Geneva, NY and Seneca Lake Park.  Each photograph and map location shows an interest point or attraction on Seneca Lake as we tour aboard the Kopasetic.

Cruising Guide Map: CS-8   Stiver's Seneca Marina is our favorite stop after a cruise west on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal from Cayuga Lake. It takes from 3 to 4 hours to cruise at canal speed (10 MPH) across the C-S Canal, and Stivers is a great place for transient boaters to stop and eat, party, and dock overnight.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-8   The Riverside Inn has great food, docks right out front of the deck, and great atmosphere.  The service is good and people are very friendly and informative in both the marina and restaurant.

Cruising Guide Map: CS-8   After passing the Seneca Yacht Club on the port side (see pictures on our Cayuga-Seneca Canal Visual Tour) there are several beautiful homes on the waterfront.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-8   As you continue southward along the east shore, the Rose Hill Mansion is just visible over the tops of the shoreline trees as shown in the image and map above.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-7B   Just north of Pontius Point on East Lake Rd. (parallels the east shore) is The Lakeshore Grill Restaurant.
Cruising Guide Map: CS- 7B  You have to slow down to get a bead on their dock, but it is capable of slipping several boats - nothing too big however.  They do have a water taxi available for larger boats that want to anchor offshore.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-7B   Here are some more shots of the Lakeshore Grill. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the food here, and the staff was very friendly as well.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-7B   The next landmark is Pontius Point, which means we are nearing one of our favorite destinations for an overnight on Seneca Lake coming from Cayuga Lake.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-6B   Sampson State Park in Romulus, NY is an excellent and well maintained state park with many amenities, including a marina that is protected from the sometimes rough waters of Seneca Lake (which tend to be more rough than its sister Cayuga Lake).
Cruising Guide Map: CS-6B   We've included several shots of Sampson State Park and the associate marina. That's the first mate at our slip on the left, and a shot taken from the end of the marina looking south.  Note: You should make reservations to stay here!  It can get crowded during the busy weekends.  You also need to call ahead for your boat slip number and to have someone deliver an adapter to fit your shore power system. This park marina was once a Navy base, and the electrical systems have to be adapted to pleasure craft.
Cruising Guide Map: CS-6B More shots of Sampson State Park. They have a sandy beach and some beautiful grounds.  We sat on portable chairs at the beach and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
