Some nice wines made from local growers (not grown on their premises). They have moved an historic barn to use as their new tasting room - construction should be finished in 2003.

Boater Rating:

Good size dock and a beautiful setting on the waterfront. Pleasant wines and a nice tasting room and decks. Quite an uphill hike to the vineyard in the summer heat as they rarely use their lakeside tasting hut. Regardless, they have a very nice main tasting room and one of the two winery docks on Cayuga Lake, giving them our three anchor rating.

Excellent Rieslings and varietals. As with many Finger Lakes vineyards, the whites are standouts compared to the reds.

Small and somewhat shallow dock (but at least they have one). They have a neat tasting room with some pretty good wine. We discovered odd hours so call ahead or visit their site before planning a visit.

A beautiful set of vineyard buildings on the shore of Cayuga. There is a small dock (not marked) that they plan to add to in 2003 for more dock space. Sheldrake Point has some great wine, great food, and an excellent staff.

Boater Rating: Boat Access Planned in 2003!

We were really impressed with this recent addition to the Cayuga Lake wineries and enjoyed the wine, personnel, and view from their brand new tasting house. They plan on lake access with golf cart rides in the near future, plus a bistro menu for food.

A general listing of Finger Lakes vineyards and their Web sites can be found at the following Web sites.

bullet Finger Lakes Wine Tours
bullet Uncork New York: Wine Country

Captains Note: 2/10/03 I've written to all the vineyards surrounding the two largest Finger Lakes (Cayuga & Seneca) and have found only two that have docks as of early 2003. My suggestion was to share a public dock and transit system for visiting boaters so they can enjoy the wonderful vineyards in the area.
