Union Springs, NY

Boater Rating:

Union Springs is home to two good size marinas on Cayuga Lake, Hibiscus Harbor's Trade-A-Yacht Marina and Castelli's Marina.  We keep the Kopasetic in a slip at Trade-A-Yacht, originally because of necessity - the dock in Sheldrake was pretty much destroyed during heavy flooding in Spring of 2002.  Delays in dock reconstruction kept us out of Sheldrake and off our boatlift most of the 2002 season. But we found the convenience of close proximity to the canal system worth renting a slip for the 2003 season. (It is about 35 minutes from our house to the marina, but at least we are using relatively inexpensive car fuel, not boat fuel.)

Docking

bulletYou can walk into town from Castelli's so you can get supplies or grab a bite to eat. Castelli's has transient docking for visiting boaters.
bulletIf you stop in Hibiscus Harbor it's too far to walk into town for those pressed for time, but you can eat at the Wheelhouse Restaurant in the harbor. There is also plenty of transient boating, and you can probably arrange a ride into town if enough advance notice is given.
