This one is a must for NYS Canal cruisers! The easiest to understand navigational map set for the canals with tips, distance between locks, and information and images of the various marinas and places to visit. The invaluable resource for the beginner or anyone not familiar with the majority of the canal system.
A Cruising Guide to the Northeast's Inland Waterways Marian, Thomas W. and W.J. Rumsey
An informative book on all Northeastern waterways from the Thousand Islands to Lake Champlain to the Finger Lakes. Good general reading for those about to tackle the canal locks for the first time.
New York State Barge Canal System - Recreational Chart 14786 NOAA	N/A
The official Chart book for the entire canal system. No map guide should be taken as gospel, especially when detailing moving buoys, etc., but this is accurate as it gets. Indispensable on long canal voyages.
