Sample Float Plan
On any boat trip, you should let someone on dry land know your whereabouts with what is called a "float plan". This version is provided by Lakeland Boating magazine.

Great site with boating courses, tips, and much more.

Good place to post a question about boats and boating.
Canada Office of Boating Safety  
Good site to visit if you plan on using the Oswego canal to visit Canadian waters.
Boat US Boating Course
A basic boating course that you can take online; you'll end up with a paper certificate you can proudly hang somewhere.
Water Works Wonders
A well done site with plenty of reference for boaters; covers all of the US.
Safe Boating Council
Their mission statement says it all: "The mission of the NSBC is to reduce accidents and enhance the boating experience."  Includes boating newsletters and boating news.
